Excerpt from the book:
\"Gordon," the gnome shouted over as the mud came up to his chest, "I have my foot caught so I can't come over to you but if you can grab hold of this." Colin cast his fishing rod towards Gordon and as the line came over Gordon reached out his arms but missed it and the line splashed into the pond. Colin hurriedly reeled it back in. "Gordon," he called over again, "you must catch it." For the second time he cast the line to Gordon. Gordon could barely move his arms but he was just able to catch the line. "I've got it," he yelled over to Colin, "now get me out of here." Colin began to reel in as fast as he could whilst still trying to free his foot from between the boulders but Gordon was too heavy and Colin's rod was beginning to creak as it bent with his weight. "Gordon, I don't think it's going to work," shrieked over Colin, "the rod's going to break." "No, keep going Colin," bellowed Gordon, "keep going, I'm starting to come up." Colin continued to reel in, CRACK! All of a sudden Colin's fishing rod snapped and the line that Gordon was holding went slack and Colin fell backwards which freed his foot much to his huge relief. Unfortunately, Gordon began to sink again in the thick dark mud. The footsteps that they both heard were now on top of them and the dark shadowy figure placed Gordon in total shade.\"
